Matías Jerman

Our general race Director Matías Jerman had participated in countless sport’s competitions, national and international, both as member of a racing team or as part of the organization in different races so he has a wide experience in such events. Between the years 1974 y 1980 he was Argentine National Champion in cross-country skiing relay 3 x 10 km. In 1975 he participated in the Youth World Cup in cross – country skiing in Lieto, Finland. In 1976 he was member of the Argentine Olympic cross - country team which participated in the Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria and in the Youth World Cup in Lieberec, Czechoslovakia. In the year 1978 and 1981 he was Argentine National Champion in cross-country skiing. In the years 1979 y 1980 he was second in the Argentine National cross – country skiing chart. He was also a member of the Argentine Olympic team in cross-country skiing, which participated in the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, USA. Between the year 1982 and 1985 he raced in the Argentine Rally Championships both as driver and co-driver. His best position in these races was a third place in the National Rally Grand Prize of the year. In the years between 1980 and 1984 he was the national and Olympic trainer for Argentina in cross-country skiing. Between the years 1984 and 1986 he worked as Cross – country skiing Secretary in the Argentine Skiing and Mounting Federation (F.A.S.A.) and for the International Skiing Federation (I.S.F) he was also T. D. (technical delegate) for cross – country skiing committee in both organizations. Since then he is the personal trainer of cross – country skiing athletes. He is married and has six children.

Janez Fleré

Our Organizing Committee President Janez Fleré had participated in countless sport’s competitions, national and international, both as member of a racing team or as part of the organization in different racing sports so he has a wide experience and knowledge in such events. In the years 1978 and 1979 he was Argentine National Champion in alpine skiing. In 1979 he participated in the skiing World Cup in Garmisch Patern Kirchen, Austria racing in Super G and Slalom. In 1980 he was a member of the Argentine Olympic Skiing team that participated in the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, USA. In 1984 and 1985 he was the winner of the National Argentine Rally race "Vuelta de la Manzana" and he was third in the National Argentine Championship class II. Between the years 1993 and 1995 he was the winner of the Argentine Transpatagonic motorbike Rally. Since 1995 he is the Technical Delegate to the International Ski Federation (I.S.F.). Since 1997 he is a permanent member of the Argentine Ski and Mounting Federation he is also member of the Rules, Control and Classification committee to the I.S.F. He is also member of the South American Cup Committee in the I.S.F.

Gabriel Antolin

Our Course Chief Gabriel Antolin is landsurveyor and he specializes in the measurement of Andean ranches and "estancias" that is why he has a wide knowledge and experience of the Patagonian geography and topography. During the years 1980 and 1986 he was member of the Argentine National Alpine Skiing team so he raced in countless championships both national and international. In 1989 he graduated as landsurveyor in the La Plata University. He attended courses about GPS (Global Positioning System) and photometry applied to the mounting measurement and surveys. He also raced in combined sports challenges mostly cross country and adventure sports specially mountain biking.

Dr. Guido Iglesias

Our physician dr. Guido Iglesias is always present at our events and walks along with the participants. He graduated at the Buenos Aires Medicine University in 1980 with an average of 8,3. In 1986 he graduated at the Argentine Surgery Association and obtained the degree Specialist in General Surgery and in 1995 he graduated as Specialist in General Surgery at the Provincial Specialist Medical Committee of Rio Negro Province. He attended several specialist courses: Techniques and tactics in Thorax surgery (1982), Ocological head and neck surgery (1983), Vascular surgery (1984), three courses of Advanced Trauma Life Support at the Argentine committee of American Surgery School (1989, 1997, 1998). He obtained a year scholarship to attend a course on Burns fellowship at the Shriners Burns Institute of Galveston, Texas USA. He had published several papers with recognized colleagues on specialized medicine topics. He has taught at several courses and colleges: gastroentherology at the Comahue National University of Bariloche (1989), I, II, IV, V course of Initial Politraumatism Manage held at the local Hospital of Bariloche (1989, 1991, 1993, 1994), First Aid at Mountaineering course at the Argentine Association of Mountain Guides (1990). He was an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (1998, 1999). Beside his wide professional medical knowledge he has a wide experience in mountaineering and climbing. He had made many ascends in the Andes in the area of Bariloche, Hielo Continental at the south and Mendoza. We can mention some of the most relevant ascends: cerro López (he climbed all its needles and walls through different routes), cerro Bonete normal route, cerro Catedral many climbing ascends to the different needles: Campanile Esloveno, Principal (north, east and Northeast wall), Frey and La Vieja through several routes. He made three ascends to the Tronador 3.554m (Argentine Peak) and two to the Lanín volcano. He made the first ascend to the Steeple Dedo del César (south patagonic continental ice, 1978). He had participated at the Club Andino Bariloche expeditions to Cordillera de los Penintentes in January 1979. During this expedition he ascent to several mountains: Zurbriggen (5.100m), Cúpula de Gussfeldt (5.300m), second ascent through direct route (central couloir) to La Mano ( 5.700m), Tolosa (5.300m) through glacier Del Hombre Cojo route. He had also participated at the expedition of 50. Anniversary of Club Andino Bariloche to Poincenot and Saint Exupery ("Hielo Continental", southern Patagonia), and also at the expedition to the South wall of Aconcagua in 1980. He made an ascent to the El Plata (6.100m) in January 1983. Since 1985 he works as permanent physician at the Surgery service of the local Bariloche Hospital and he is also member of the Mountain Rescue Team of Club Andino Bariloche.

dr. Carlos Aiassa

Dr. Carlos Aiassa graduated as Solicitor in 1978 and as lawyer in 1981 at the Buenos Aires University. Since 1979 to 1981 he worked as Solicitor from there onwards he works as lawyer at different courts of justice: Capital district, San Martin, Morón, San Isidro and now at San Carlos de Bariloche. He also taught at several public high schools in Bariloche during 1984 and 1991 and also in higher education institutes of Bariloche since 1993 (Instituto Patagónico and Instituto Primo Capraro). He had participated in several combined sports races at national and international level. He participated at the international triathlon of Bariloche and obtained first in 1997 and second prize in 1998 in his category. He had participated in all the editions of Short Triathlon of Bariloche as a racer or as member of the organization since 1985. In all the editions that he raced he obtained first prize in his category. He participated twice at the "Escape Huemul" race and won first prize at both. In 1997 he participated at the Pucón (Chile) triathlon and also at the Puerto Varas (Chile) triathlon where he obtained third prize in his category. In 1998 he won second prize in this same competition. In 1998 he participated of the combined competition Ironman in Porto Seguro, Brazil (swimming 3, 8km, mountain biking 180 km and running 42km). In 1998 he raced at the first Las Grutas triathlon and won at his category. He had also raced in several winter triathlons and his best position was second prize in his category. He participated in a National championship of cross-country skiing and in several local races of alpine skiing. He raced in the Esquel tetrathlon in teams where he raced at the running leg of the competition. In 1998 he participated in several dates for the National Triathlon which was held in different cities throughout the country. In the summer season of 1999/2000 he will participate in the Short Triathlon of Patagonia which will take place in different cities at the Andes and the Patagonian coast. He is also a licensed diver. He usually trains at different sports: running, swimming and mountain biking. He obtained the degree as Sports Delegate at the International Olympic Committee. He was the President of the Bariloche Hockey on Ice Association during two years. He participated at the organization of several championships of Hockey on Ice and accompanied the local top team to the National Championship. He was secretary of the Club Andino Bariloche during three years. During four years he was vice-president of the Bariloche Lawyer Association.
